Nothing takes you back in time and makes you feel like royalty like a nice set of bed canopy drapes. Many people fall in love with these drapes the first time they see them but never really take any steps into having them for themselves. There are many roadblocks you can face on the road to your large beautiful bed with gorgeous drapes but the main obstacle you will encounter is very simple. Motivation.

How many times have you seen your dream bed on television and said “Wow, I'd absolutely love to have a bed like that one!”. Well, why does it have to be a dream? These beds are all over the place and many stores sell all the needed accessories such as the drapes right along with the beds. The first step you need to take is very simple. Make sure you have room for your new bed. If you have a 20 by 20 bedroom, you might be pretty cramped in there but if you have a gigantic master bedroom with a lot of space, it could be absolutely perfect.

When you have decided you have enough room and buy the bed that will accommodate these drapes, now you need to decide what kind of drapes to get. You don't want to stick to just lacy, light colored drapes because any visitor may think you are terrified of malaria and are obsessed with mosquito netting. Instead, try a combination of lacy and dark or light filtering and ruffled. The choice is up to you. Don't be afraid to copy a movie or two if you don't trust your judgment.

Movies are actually great for inspiration when you are choosing your bed canopy drapes. Another great place to get ideas is the Internet. Just type in canopy bed and find some images that are relevant to what you are looking for. You can find styles that reflect different time periods, mythological themes, stories, and much more! Don't have your canopy bed be too different from the overall theme of your room or it will look very tacky and out of place. Make sure you have some similarly themed decorations in the room too.
